When we moved into our new house, I thought it was perfect for encaustics but my future studio space was quickly buried under boxes and other projects... I need an archeologist to get to my wax, also the prices have sky rocketed... but I have a lot so I can get by, no excuse there... oh , damn! double damn and SIGH!

I have several paintings in my head and need them on wood!

I did this in a class at the Worcester Museum of Art in 2000. The class was taught by Tracy Spadafora, who is an excellent artist and teacher her works are exhibited around the country and currently can be seen Here her works are in the third row of thumbnails. I had fallen in love with encaustics and beeswax in general but the techniques is so tricky, without Tracy's class I would have given up on it as a medium.

This is from a pin hole camera photo I took of a fellow student at the Corcoran, she was a french girl, whose name I no longer remember. I love the photo and tried to do an encaustic painting of it. Not even 30% satisfied with the results but the nice thing about encaustics you can go back to a piece whenever.

I was playing here with using frame nd gold leaf, scratching textures and designs into the layers of wax. I was trying too many things at the same time, need to cme back and revisit these.

Juried Show Cambridge MA 1999

I really love this one, but I totally ruined the moon! I stupidly tried to 'scan it' -duh! Scanners get hot and part of th emoon stuck to the glass! I had scanned several & the scanner was too hot... might work as a one time thing -then let it cool down! It also now has a large slash through it -encasutics seem so indestructable that it's easy to get careless! I guess now I'll learn some repair techniques.
